Liverpool vs West Brom 2018

What time is kick-off?
SUNDAY 28th January - a late start at 03.45am.
Who is the referee?
Craig Pawson has been appointed as the official for Saturday's game - and he need not worry about making a poor decision - as he will be helped by the video assistant referee technology which is going to be making its Anfield debut this weekend.

Who should I look out for in the West Brom team?
The team lying just three points adrift of the foot of the table don't seem to be bringing too much to fear to Anfield, but the past weekend saw good performances from forward duo Salomon Rondón and Jay Rodriguez.

The club's two top scorers, with four and three goals respectively, put in a solid performance on the other side of Stanley Park last weekend, when they earned a point in a 1-1 draw.

Rodriguez scored for the Baggies and Rondon performed well in the aftermath of being traumatised following the accidental leg break of Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

Who is the West Brom manager?
Alan Pardew.

The 56 year-old took over at the Hawthorns in late November and has since picked up just two wins in 11 games in charge.

Pardew will perhaps be hoping an FA Cup run could lift the belief of his struggling side, who are sitting very close to the bottom of the Premier League.

The former Palace boss has fared well in the competition throughout his career, reaching the final twice - most recently in 2016 when his Palace team lost 2-1 to Manchester United.

The other time in 2006 came when a certain Reds' midfielder stole the show to spoil the party for Pardew's West Ham side...

Any injury news?
Hero from the previous round Van Dijk is expected to return after his absence from the victory over Manchester City.

Jordan Henderson could feature following a month out of action. He has been missing since the 3-3 draw at the Emirates in December, but the captain recently returned to full training.

There is still no sign of a return for Nathaniel Clyne, with the full back not set for a comeback until at least February.

West Brom will be without Belgian winger Nacer Chadli who hasn't featured since before Christmas due to a hamstring injury.

What happened the last time the sides met?
Nothing.

A very flat performance from the Reds saw a goalless draw at Anfield in December.

Liverpool accounted for 70% possession during the match, with Pardew's side happy to sit and defend their penalty area - a tactic that proved helpful for the visiting side as the 'Fab Four' were unable to unpick the stubborn defence.

Any other interesting stuff I should be aware of?
The last five meetings between the two sides have resulted in draws, so brace yourself for an exciting fixture this weekend.

With Egyptian Mohamed Salah in great form, he will be setting his sights on his next milestone in the club's top scorers in a season.

He recently equalled Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge's bests of 24 goals in a campaign. Michael Owen in the next player who Salah must surpass on the list, with 28 being his best tally - but he still has someway to go to surpass the great Robbie Fowler who netted a record 36 times for the Reds in one season.
